I love nature and I care about the environment.
I love being in nature - climbing trees, surfing, taking photos and videos and filming with my drone.
I started taking photographs when I was three years old with my first Panasonic camera. I took thousands of photographs. When I was 14 I bought my
Nikon Coolpix B700 and discovered bird photography.
I spent hours in the bush, filming and photographing the birds in my backyard and surrounding areas.
It was when I had so many bird photos that I realised that we didn't have a local bird book for the Perth Hills and thought I should create one.
I did hours of research, hand painted bird distribution maps, created my own 'Skittish' rating and included tips on photographing each bird.
Then in 2018, I took my USB to the printers and had 'Birds of the Perth Hills' professionally printed. I gave this book to my parents as a Christmas present.
After Mum read the book cover to cover, we decided that we should print it and share it with the community and that's exactly what we did.
The book was launched at the Blue Sky Festival in Mundaring in March 2021 and 200 books were sold in a week. By April 2024, 7000 had been sold.
Doing a podcast, radio interviews, speaking to audiences and sharing the joy that the book brings... It has been a fabulous journey.
